ART is a unique therapeutic approach that effectively reprograms the way traumatic experiences are stored in the brain. Structured around a combination of traditional psychotherapies such as guided imagery, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more, it often helps to promote a dramatic reduction in the emotional intensity associated with traumatic memories.
If you are seeking healing for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, phobias, grief, or other performance-related issues, ART Therapy may be an efficient approach that will allow you to experience substantial improvement in a relatively short period of time.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a groundbreaking therapeutic approach that was developed by Laney Rosenzweig, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of the Rosenzweig Center for Rapid Recovery. It has been recognized as evidence-based by the American Psychological Association (APA) and is being practiced by licensed and trained therapists around the world.
At its core, ART focuses on the idea that our brains have the innate ability to heal themselves and is used to treat a variety of mental health conditions and emotional traumas. Using the power of bilateral stimulation in the form of eye movements, it helps individuals release and replace negative or distressing images and memories with more positive and adaptive thoughts and feelings. ART's reprocessing accesses and alters the way memories are stored and promotes the integration of emotional and cognitive aspects of memories, leading to their reconsolidation in a less distressing form.
During ART, your therapist will guide you through a series of structured sessions that combine guided imagery, eye movements, deep breathing exercises, and more. For many clients, ART offers a unique and highly efficient process for healing.
The primary benefit of ART is that it can very rapidly reduce the emotional intensity associated with traumatic memories. As the therapy progresses, individuals often experience new-found feelings of empowerment, resilience, and overall well-being. Many have described ART as a transformative process that allowed them to truly move forward in life from a place of strength.
The ART process is attractively fast, sometimes only requiring a handful of sessions to make significant strides forward. Many One Life clients even notice improvement after just one session!
Accelerated Resolution Therapy has emerged as a cutting-edge therapeutic modality that can offer hope and healing. At One Life Counselling & Coaching, our highly trained psychologists are dedicated to tailoring the ART approach to the specific needs and circumstances of each client they work with.
